Various Illuminations of a Crazy World

New York based artist Maira Kalman's quirky illustrations and picture essays celebrate life's small absurdities. Whether highlighting George Washington's love of cherry pie or delighting in a particularly large lace bow glimpsed on a passer-by, Kalman's witty and colourful pictures are a visual treat.

This exhibition catalogue from the ICA in Philadelphia is the first monograph of Kalman's work which has graced the cover of The New Yorker and appeared in two online columns for the New York Times.

At once cheerful and thought provoking- Kalman's pictures and reflections are guaranteed to lift your spirits.

Maira Kalman, Various Illuminations of a Crazy World is available at Potterton Books London priced £19.99.
