Leslie Williamson's new book 'Handcrafted Modern' illustrates an unfamiliar kind of Modernism- a domestic one. Photographing the homes of pioneers such as Walter Gropius, Ray Eames and Wharton Esherick, Williamson reveals their own interior spaces were adorned with exotic objects, patterned textiles and tactile ceramics rather than stark, clean interiors indicative of a 'machine for living in'
An intimate and unusual book.
'Handcrafted Modern' is available at Potterton Books London, priced £30.00.
